This coffee spot haven't changed much. It's still packed with customers on weekdays. Long lines are expected. They always have wide selections for foods and beverages. Pastries are usually fully stocked at the display counter. Grab your own utensils in the far back right side. Tiny storefront with a few tables and chairs outside in the cute and narrow patio outdoor setting. Good vibes here. Tourists and locals always enjoy the stop. I wish they would expand the space though. They can potentially fit more customers outside. The coffee place is easy to miss because the front entrance hallway may look hidden to first time customers, especially when the coffee shop sign isn't placed outside at the entrance sometimes. You really need to search for the front door due to hidden location. Easiest way to remember is that there are stairs to the right side of the hallway leading to their front door. I am happy with my hot chocolate, tiramisu, and ham cheese croissant. Surprisingly, I did find an available table and seat to enjoy my order. Long lines and crowds are common here. Good ambiance. Yes, very tiny space, but definitely worth the wait. Cafe people will enjoy the unique atmosphere and wish for more spaces too. The sun really shines over this small cafe area. Enjoy delicious treats here.

Stopped by Carmel Coffee House and Roasting company on a Monday afternoon during the long holiday weekend (memorial day). They were quite busy but they kept the line moving quickly. We were 8th in line and it took just a few minutes for us to reach the counter. My coffee order is usually quite boring; americano, black, at least four shots per 12 oz of water. But I was really enticed by their special latte offerings so I opted for the marzipan latte, which is made with almond, white chocolate, and vanilla syrup. They also offered a 'black forest mocha' as well as a 'lavender fields' latte, which is a combination of honey and lavender. My partner ordered a chai latte with oat milk + two shots of espresso (aka 'dirty chai'). Oat milk is a dollar extra which seems steep compared to other coffee shops that charge around half that to use an alternative milk. Both coffees were really well balanced. Her dirty chai latte had a decent amount of spice to it, and the coffee came through 'just enough'. My marzipan latte was also really well balanced and not overly sweet, per my request. Even though the almond flavor is coming from the syrup, it did not taste overly artificial and I enjoyed every last sip! The location is a bit, tucked away, down one of Carmel-by-the-Sea's iconic alleyways. There may be a bit of a line extending out into the seating area, but that's only because the interior of this coffee shop is quite small. The seating area outside is cute and there were plenty of seats available if you wanted to sit down and slowly enjoy your drink. Current hours are listed as 7 AM until 6 PM which is different than what is listed on yelp.

The only reason I found this spot was because I was exploring the streets one day but I'm sure glad I found it. It's a very quaint location tucked away in an alley way. When we arrived there was a line out the door which can be annoying but is typically a good sign. The line moved quickly and I popped my head inside to snap a photo of the menu so I knew what I wanted by the time we got to the counter. What we ordered: - Small chai latte w/ 2 shots of espresso and oat milk - Medium marzipan latte w/ 4 shots of espresso I always appreciate when a coffee shops menu is a "no frill" type of coffee shop with a few rotating speciality options. Their spring specials were: black forrest mocha, lavender fields latte, and the marzipan latte. All of the specialty drinks sounded amazing but marzipan is such a unique find for a latte we just had to try it. Just get it. It was perfect and tasted just like marzipan. My chai latte was good but looking back I shouldn't have substituted my milk for oat. It took away the creaminess that you get from whole milk in my opinion. Another thing I love about this coffee shop is that they have more than just average pastries options and some of them are made in house like the cardamom pistachio tea cake. They roast their coffee in house right in front of you which would have been really cool to see. Customer service from the person at the register was friendly and personable. As for the baristas, they got our drinks out quickly without compromising quality. Overall, I'm so glad we stopped by for an afternoon coffee and I know I'll be back.
